Stephen Montague
Biography
b. 1943 Syracuse, New York, USA. Studied piano, conducting and composition at Florida State University; received doctorate from Ohio State University. Has lived, as freelance compser, in London since 1974. As a pianist, has performed and broadcast internationally. Has collaborated with sculptor Maurice Agis, composing multi-channel sound environments for Agis’s giant inflatable sculptures Colourspace and Dreamspace. Output includes orchestral, choral, chamber, vocal and solo instrumental works (some with tape and electronics) as well as electroacoustic music. Associate Composer withthe Orchestra of St John’s Smith Square, London, 1995-97. Has been Guest Professor at Universities in USA and New Zealand.
